Moringa oleifera or drumstick, a drought-resistant tree belongs to the family Moringaceae. It is native to tropical regions of South Asia and India is the largest producer of the drumstick with an annual production of 1-1.3 million tonnes of fruits.
Drumstick scientifically called as Moringa oleifera is commonly known as Shevaga (in Marathi), Maharashtra in different Indian languages. Drumstick is the most widely cultivated species of the genus Moringa comes from the Moringaceae family.
The leaves and bark of drumstick tree are used in treating paralysis, nervous disorders according to Ayurveda. The leaves and fruits of drumstick plant increase digestion and stimulate one's appetite. It also reduces cramps and eradicates intestinal worms
